Essendon announce trio of delistings…

Essendon have delisted three players following the conclusion of their 2024 campaign, with Nick Hind, Tex Wanganeen and Kaine Baldwin not offered new deals.AFL 2022: Essendon Bombers on trial: An 'A' for effort, but a fail on class

Hind is the most experienced of the three, having played 95 AFL games, 74 of which came after swapping clubs to the Bombers from St Kilda in 2020.

The forward-defender hybrid played 15 games under Brad Scott this year, his most recent coming in Round 18 against Melbourne.

Wanganeen played a total of five AFL games during his three seasons with the club, all of which came during his first year in 2022.

The son of club great Gavin, Wanganeen was recruited to the club as a Supplemental Selection Period addition and would spend most of his time developing in the VFL.

Despite a promising transition to the backline this year, Wanganeen did not break through for a senior recall.

Baldwin spent almost the entirety of this year on the sidelines, with a foot injury putting an end to his 2024 campaign.

He joined the club as an SSP signing in 2021 and would play eight games at AFL level during his time at Tullamarine.

“Nick, Tex and Kaine have all been popular members of our footy club who showed resilience and determination to get the most out of their footy careers during their time with us,” Essendon football boss Daniel McPherson said in a statement.

“We thank them for their contribution to the red and black and they leave knowing they will always be a part of the Essendon footy club. We wish each of them all the best for the next stage of their careers both on and off the field.”

The trio of departures come after the Bombers and fringe forward Jaiden Hunter parted ways earlier this month.
