Done deal: West Ham United agree terms with George Earthy as new contract signed

West Ham have confirmed that teenage midfielder George Earthy has signed a new deal with the club.

Earthy signed a three-year contract with the Hammers, the club announced on their official website on Saturday [23 September].

Earthy joined United when he was six years old and was a crucial member of the under-18 team that won the league and cup double in 2022-23.

“I am delighted to extend my stay with West Ham United,” he said on the club’s website [23 September].

“I’ve been here since I was a kid, and signing a new contract is something I’ve been working really hard on for the past few seasons.”

“I’m excited to continue my journey at West Ham.” It means a lot to play for your favorite team, and this deal is a huge vote of confidence in myself as a player moving forward.”

Time for next step

Earthy has long been considered one of the gems in West Ham’s age-grade sides and he is surely not far off being considered for first-team action.

Now aged 18, the attacking midfielder will fancy his chances of getting a run-out in one of the domestic cup competitions at the very least.

After impressing for the U18 side last season, Earthy is now part of the U21 squad and has netted two goals in his past two outings.

This includes a goal in Friday’s [22 September] 3-3 tie with Southampton in Premier League 2.

Earthy appeared in one of the senior team’s summer friendly, coming on as a substitute for Jarrod Bowen in a 3-2 win over Tottenham in Australia.

The next phase is to break into David Moyes’ team for competitive games, which he is quite likely to do within the next 12 months.
