Rangers may have a bigger talent than Jefte in 20y/o “surprise”

Rangers may have a more gifted player than Jefte because they have a gifted academy player.

Considering that the only conversation going into the deadline was whether or not Glasgow Rangers would sign another center-forward, the team enjoyed a comparatively quiet day.

Ultimately, it seems that Philippe Clement is at ease going into a hectic few months with his attacking alternatives being Cyriel Dessers and Fabio Silva.

Oscar Cortes, a winger, did indeed sign on deadline day, first on a loan with a buyout option. He appears to be a bright talent who might provide some energy and flair to this Rangers team.

A few players, most notably Brazilian left-back Jefte, may have slipped through the net and Clement may regret not bringing them to the team.

Rangers lose out on signing Jefte Fabrizio Romano suddenly gave an update on the Gers transfer business last week, saying that the team had reached an agreement to sign Jefte.

Given that Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz’s futures were uncertain, it seemed like the Belgian manager was wise to sign the gifted young player. However, a few days later, Romano gave an update on the situation, saying:

“The Jefté-Rangers agreement fell through because APOEL is unwilling to extend the loan for the remainder of the season.

“…but I’ve been informed that Rangers and Jefté have a verbal agreement to revive the option to sign Jefté during the summer transfer window.”

“A deal might actually go through in June.”

It appears that the Light Blues won’t be able to watch him play in Scotland for several months, but will he be worth it?

Jefte might be a wise addition.
The defender is presently seeking to gain a great deal of senior experience by loaning out from Brazilian team Fluminense to APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus.

Although he hasn’t played for the Brazilian national team yet, he has contributed six goals in just 25 games for the U20 team, showcasing his consistent attacking skills.

He has scored three goals and picked up four assists in the Cypriot top flight this season, demonstrating his propensity for pressing forward as much as possible. These qualities are undoubtedly what drew Clement to pursue a deal for the player.

The 20-year-old has impressed across a number of metrics, as evidenced by his ranking fifth among the team for key passes made in the league this season (one), as well as his ranking fourth for successful dribbles per game (2.4) and second for interceptions per game (4.2).

It is evident that he is a talent who will only get better with age, and it shows that Clement is thinking ahead rather than bringing in a player who may be at or past his peak.

The 49-year-old is undoubtedly aiming to establish a player-trading model that could see the Gers sign young players for relatively cheap and then move them on for significant profits in the future if they develop as planned.
