DONE DEAL: Decision Day for Top50 Gators WR target ….
The Florida Gators recruiting class enters the day on Sunday with nine verbal commitments in the fold.
The coaching staff in Gainesville has a chance to not only add to that number later today, but land one of their top targets at the position.
Orlando (Fla.) Jones four-star wide receiver Vernell Brown III is set to announce his college decision, and UF is on the short list heading into his decision date. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of his announcement.
Who: Orlando (Fla.) Jones four-star wide receiver Vernell Brown III. He was offered by the Florida Gators on June 20, 2022 . He’s listed at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds.
Rating: 247Sports standalone ranking has Brown as the No. 36 overall prospect and No.
7 ranked wide receiver. The 247Sports Composite, an industry generated average ranking, lists Brown as a five-star prospect, and No. 25 overall recruit, No. 6 ranked wide receiver.
Crystal Ball: 85.7% to Florida, the other 14.3% is an old prediction to Ohio State
More recently they have been taking that legacy approach,” he said. “Saying how, being that my family went there, it will feel different with me playing there.
I’m from Gainesville, so that is the approach they take. They send pictures with me and my dad on there. Edits and things of how Florida has been around me. Now it’s more a way they add it onto the conversation.”
High School Stats: As a high school junior, Brown snagged 70 passes for 1,363 yards receiving, and 10 touchdowns. He also scored four more times on kickoff and punt return.
Swamp247’s Read: There are only so many can’t miss recruits a cycle, but for UF, Brown certainly fits that mold. He’s got all the talent in the world, and has done nothing but produce.
Aside from having a strong junior season on the field, Brown has also been a top performer at every camp and 7on7 tournament he’s attended this year.
That alone makes him a big time need for Florida, but then you mix in the legacy ties he’s got to the program. Several of his family members, including his father attended UF.
While the legacy ties are there, they never seemed like a major factor in Brown’s interest in the Gators. Florida has always been viewed as a strong contender in this recruitment, but buzz has only grown since last month.
