Taylor Swift says she’s ‘going to die’ as she battles fire in £40million apartment

Taylor Swift joked she thought she was “going to die” during a kitchen fire in her $50million (£39.5million) New York City apartment.

The 34-year-old singer’s close pal Gracie Abrams has opened up about the scary incident as she took to Instagram to share a video of Taylor tackling the fire with an extinguisher. In the footage, Taylor is seen panicking as a pan caught fire on her stove.

She shouted: “What do I do about this?” before grabbing the fire extinguisher. She added: “So I cut this with a knife? I think we’re going to die.”

While Taylor fumbled with the extinguisher, struggling to release the foam, Gracie advised: “Just press it.” The pop star then called the device a “b****” before finally managing to put out the flames.

Once the fire was out, Taylor said: “Our purses are ruined. And my shoes. And the whole room, I think.” Gracie added: “It smells really good, though.”

Earlier that evening, the pair had been working on their song Us, which debuted on Friday alongside Gracie’s first album The Secret of Us. Reflecting on the song writing session, which happened from 2am to 6am, and fire Gracie said: “Writing this entire song… was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.”
