This afternoon, Nottingham Forest face Brentford, and Steve Cooper must remain with Nicolas Dominguez. Last Saturday, the midfielder made his debut in a 2-0 loss to Manchester City.

Cooper will have to make a judgment against the backdrop of support for Ryan Yates. Whichever option he chooses, the Argentina international must be included in the midfield.

The 25-year-old appears to be a pretty polished performer. He arrived from Bologna on transfer deadline day and seemed to relish the idea that he was making his debut against the champions.

Dominguez must begin for Forest today.
The Reds made an interesting addition in the summer. Dominguez joined Forest on a permanent basis, while Remo Freuler went the other way.

It’s a signing that has perhaps slipped under the radar at the City Ground. With Ibrahim Sangare, Divock Origi and Callum Hudson-Odoi catching the eye, Dominguez was one that perhaps didn’t get the same level of attention.

Last week, Forest head coach Cooper thought it was time to unleash Dominguez. The player did not disappoint, delivering a performance that enthralled the audience.

Cooper praised the player after his first appearance in English football last week. He stated that ‘he did well,’ and it is evident that the head coach expects to see more of the player.

Forest looking for a big win

Brentford arrive at the City Ground today on the back of three successive defeats in all competitions. The Reds will hope to take advantage of that and compound the misery on Thomas Frank’s men.

Cooper’s choice to play Dominguez would undoubtedly be popular. He is the type of midfielder Forest made last time out at home against Burnley, and he will be eager to play again.

Forest must show more ambition to get on the front foot at the City Ground, where fans are looking for some attacking intent. They should have no trouble meeting that demand with Dominguez on the team.
