Drouin’s decision to join the Avalanche on a one-year, $825,000 contract last summer proved to be a win for both him and the team. In the 2022-23 season, he tallied two goals and 27 assists in 58 games with the Montreal Canadiens before moving to Colorado. The change of scenery revitalized the 29-year-old winger, who notched 19 goals and 37 assists in 79 games, averaging over 18 minutes per game—a career high. This resurgence has significantly increased his market value.

Both Drouin and the Avalanche management are eager to finalize a new contract.
