Confirmed: Nottingham Forest sign talented young midfielder after league upset
Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as the Reds sign Scotland under-16 starlet Cormac Daly from Hamilton Academical
Cormac Daly, a talented midfielder from Hamilton Academical, has joined Nottingham Forest.
The 16-year-old has agreed to a professional contract with Forest, which will most likely begin on his seventeenth birthday. This secures the future of the Scotland under-16 international for the City Ground until the summer of 2026. He has agreed to terms on a scholarship till the age of 17.
Daly was a member of the squad that stunned Scottish youth football by winning the domestic under-18 league over Celtic and Rangers. Nottingham Forest announced the signing of Scotland youth international Cormac Daly on Tuesday: “Nottingham Forest is pleased to confirm the signing of Scotland youth international Cormac Daly.”
“Daly, an exciting attacking midfielder, joins The Reds from Hamilton Academical, signing a scholarship and a professional contract that will last until the summer of 2026.”
“We are delighted to welcome Cormac to Nottingham Forest in the next stage of his development as a player,” Forest’s head of academy Chris McGuane said.
“He is a player who we have seen has potential, and we are looking forward to working with him on a daily basis to maximize this opportunity.”
Confirming Forest’s interest in the youngster last month, Rankin told the Scottish media: “Nottingham Forest have made an approach to say they are interested.
“There have been no discussions yet, only a letter of interest.” We’ll see how that plays out over the next week or two since we’ve received a number of letters of interest in our athletes.
“Winning the under-18 league – and the boys are getting ready to go into the UEFA Youth League now – always attracts attention.” Teams come to watch when you are at the top of the league. So there were a lot of teams watching our under-18s last season, and with players like Josh McDonald and Cormac participating, teams will look at them.It is entirely up to them what they do with it.
