Cleveland Browns News: Joe Flacco Announces Big 2024 Plans

There are plenty of compelling storylines for the Cleveland Browns over the past NFL season, but only a few of them can hold a candle to what Joe Flacco has done this season.

The veteran quarterback managed to revitalize his career with the team after leading them to a strong playoff run despite Deshaun Watson’s absence, becoming the epitome of what a great backup quarterback should be like.

Now that the 2024 season is upon the NFL, the seasoned vet is considering his options on where he’ll ply his trade next.

Cleveland Browns want to keep Joe Flacco

The 2023 Comeback Player of the Year is still hungry to play more football games and is ready to do whatever it takes to get on the field.

Heavy.com’s JR DeGroote wrote about the 39-year-old’s mindset for the coming season:

“I’m not riding off into any sunset,” Flacco told cleveland.com. “It’s not my style. I don’t care how ugly it gets, I want to be playing until maybe it does get ugly. I want to be dragged off that field. Having said that, it may not be up to me. It took until week whatever for me to even be on a team this year. I understand that not all of those decisions are made by me. But I think I’m going to be back out there next year, and take it day by day.”

The Cleveland Browns have also made it clear that they want to keep him in Cleveland should Watson fail to live up to his contract due to health concerns:

“We’d absolutely love to have Joe back,” Browns GM Andrew Berry said during his postseason press conference last month. “He’s a good quarterback, but I guess maybe a little bit similar to Jacoby last year. It depends, right? I want to bring all of our good players back, but there are constraints to that. I’m really kind of both sides of the aisle but we’d have no problem having Joe back.”

Flacco played fantastic football in the limited snaps he was given. Through five regular-season games, he managed to pass for 1616 yards and 13 touchdowns. Any team in need of a solid quarterback option will get great value by picking him up.
