Chelsea are expected to end Andrey Santos’s Nottingham Forest loan spell in January, it has been claimed.

The 19-year-old arrived at the City Ground in the summer, but has played just seven minutes of Premier League football. His only start for Steve Cooper came in the Carabao Cup defeat against Burnley.

He is highly rated by Chelsea who are expected to bring him back to Stamford Bridge in the new year, according to the Standard. They add that the Blues can break the loan agreement if Santos fails to reach a certain number of appearances by January.

If Santos does leave Forest, regulations will limit his next move. New FIFA regulations state that clubs can only have seven players out on overseas loans at one time.

Chelsea have already reached that number, which would mean Santos’s next move would have to be within English football. At this stage, it is said to be unclear whether there is any Premier League interest.

Portuguese giants FC Porto are one club known to be interested but if a move was to happen, Chelsea would have to cancel one of their current overseas loans and may face financial penalties.
