On Saturday, Celtic secured a double victory, marking our 118th major honor in our rich history. This achievement brings us on par with Rangers 1872 RIP in terms of total honors, including those claimed by their successor club formed in 2012 under Charles Green. While they assert themselves as the world’s most successful football club based on their Cup Winners Cup win, 55 league titles, 34 Scottish Cups, and 28 League Cups, we now stand at the same level. According to their own reasoning, if we clinch the league cup next season, we will surpass them.

It’s inevitable that we will eventually surpass their tally, but we have no intention of arrogantly claiming the title of “most successful club in the world.” Such a claim would be ridiculous and embarrassing, a sentiment both our club and supporters firmly reject. While we boast a successful and esteemed history, we recognize that clubs like Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Bayern Munich hold a higher level of prestige.

On the contrary, Rangers have boldly proclaimed this title for some time, even displaying it at their venues. However, it’s time for them to reconsider this stance. Winning next season’s League Cup will be a significant moment, potentially overshadowing their claims.

It’s clear that next season’s League Cup holds extra significance, especially as Celtic aims to outshine our rivals.
