Brisbane have been buoyed by the return of their former halfback for 2025.
Reece Walsh in sweet scenes with daughter as Ben Hunt makes first appearance with Broncos
Ben Hunt made his first appearance in Broncos colours over the weekend as Brisbane players and their families marked a new sponsorship deal on Tangalooma Island Resort. Just a few days after the NRL finally ticked off his $1.2 million contract with the Broncos, Hunt was in his new team’s colours and mingling with teammates.
Broncos players, staff and their families headed out for a fun day on Moreton Island to celebrate the new sponsor. “I’m used to coming back to a fitness test on day one so it’s a bit of a nice change, but it’s been nice to meet all the players, meet the families and have a lot of fun,” Hunt told media.

With the Broncos now on Christmas break, Hunt won’t be required for his first training session until January 6. “It feels really good, it feels like it’s right,” the 34-year-old said about re-joining his former club.https://sportaccount.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/c9386fe0-bb33-11ef-bc7f-df38e9badde5.webp
“It’s something I never thought was going to happen ever, and to come back and join a club and finish my career at a club like the Broncos, it’s something I’m excited about. I’ve watched a bit of (the pre-season), and talking to the boys it’s looked tough so far but that’s what pre-season is about, it’s about getting fit and getting strong and prepared for the season so I’m excited to get back in the new year and rip in.”

Reece Walsh in good spirits despite ugly fitness drama
Reece Walsh and fellow Broncos players were in good spirits as they experienced the island resort with their families. Walsh had young daughter Leila in tow and smiled for the cameras, despite some ugly headlines last week regarding his fitness.
The 22-year-old finished near the back of the pack during a fitness test last week, sparking questions about the message that sent to teammates. Many felt the $1.1 million marquee man should be leading by example rather than bringing up the rear.
