Brian kelly anounces a devastating and heartbreaking news..

As of now, LSU sits at 81 scholarship players, which is four below the NCAA’s 85-man scholarship limit. This count comes after LSU lost 13 scholarship players during the fall transfer portal window and an additional seven players during the spring window, including Jaxon Howard, Khai Prean, Connor Gilbreath, Ryan Yaites, Jeremiah Hughes, Christian Brathwaite, and Jo Cryer. To offset these losses, the Tigers have added seven new players who will count towards the 2024 class, including Wisconsin defensive tackle Gio Paez.

LSU’s roster comprises players at various stages of their college careers, with differing amounts of remaining eligibility. Here’s a look at the roster numbers by position and the players’ college career performance and eligibility, providing a snapshot of the team Brian Kelly will lead into the 2024 season.

**Who Can Enter the Transfer Portal?**
– **Eligibility:** Any player can transfer. Due to a court injunction in December, players can transfer multiple times without facing a year-in-residence penalty, a rule previously applied only to underclassmen transferring once.

**Transfer Restrictions:**
– **SEC Restrictions:** Players wishing to transfer within the SEC must do so by the end of the winter window. Players entering the portal in the spring are restricted from transferring to another SEC school.

**Exceptions to the Spring Transfer Window:**
– **Graduate Transfers:** Graduate students can enter the transfer portal at any time without restrictions, even during the summer.
– **Coaching Changes:** If a head coach leaves a program, a 30-day immediate portal window opens for players to transfer.

### Summary
With the spring transfer portal window closing at midnight on April 30 for undergraduate students and an additional 24 hours for graduate students, LSU’s roster is nearly set for the upcoming season. The Tigers have room for four more scholarship players to reach the 85-man limit, and the flexibility provided by the current transfer rules offers opportunities for further adjustments if needed.
