The world 200m champion suffered what appeared to be a hamstring injury in Hungary on Tuesday and her physio has now addressed the issue.
Shericka Jackson’s physiotherapist Troy Evans has allayed fears that the world 200m champion suffered an injury on Tuesday.
Jackson was on her way to winning the 200m at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Hungary before she pulled up in pain in what appeared to be a muscle strain.
That sent fears among Jamaican fans with just over two weeks remaining before the Paris 2024 Olympics begins but Evans has put that to rest.
“Cramp in the hamstring, she will be working on,” Evans posted on Instagram, accompanying the comment with a video of Jackson pushing off from the starting blocks and sprinting in an indoor warm up area alongside her coach Paul Francis.
It is a major relief for Team Jamaica who are counting on Jackson for 100m and 200m gold at the Olympics following the withdrawal of defending champion Elaine Thompson-Herah from the Games.
The Gyulai Istvan Memorial was Jackson’s first event since the Jamaican Olympics trials which she easily won to clinch her ticket to the Paris Games.
Faith Kipyegon is undoubtedly the greatest 1500m female runner of this generation, thanks to her dominance over the distance.
In the women’s rankings by World Athletics, the world record holder ranks first with 1295 points, edging the likes of Genzebe Dibaba and Gudaf Tsegay to second and third place with 1287 and 1285 points.
Kipyegon continued etching her name in the annals of history following her striking performance at the Diamond League Meeting in Paris, France, just days away from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The double world record holder shattered her own world record, clocking 3:49.04 to cross the finish line.
The 30-year-old destroyed her previous world record set at Diamond League Meeting in Florence, Italy in 2023, where she clocked 3:49.11 to win the race.
However, Kipyegon has two opponents standing in her way to become the greatest 1500m runner in the world regardless of gender.
Hicham El Guerrouj, a retired Moroccan middle-distance runner who has managed to stay on top of the chain but Kipyegon is slowly catching up with him.
El Guerrouj is the current world record holder for the 1500m and mile events, and is also the former world record holder in the 2000m.
