Former Colts star Dwight Freeney named to Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024

WFIE – INDIANAPOLIS, IN Dwight Freeney, a former defensive end for the Indianapolis Colts, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024, the NFL announced tonight. This August, the Class of 2024 will be formally inducted into Canton, Ohio.

With his signature spin move, Dwight developed into one of the most feared pass rushers in the league, according to Jim Irsay, owner and CEO of the Colts. As one of the all-time greats in professional football, he gave Colts fans a lot of exciting moments, and he really deserves this honour.

After being selected by Indianapolis in the first round (11th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Syracuse, Freeney is the third defensive lineman from the Colts to be selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, joining Art Donovan (1968) and Gino Marchetti (1972). Freeney was a part of the Colts’ victory in Super Bowl XLI and was inducted into the team’s Ring of Honour in 2019. Freeney retired from the NFL as a member of Indianapolis in 2018.
