Dan Pitcher: ‘Joe Burrow is Capable of Doing Anything You Ask Him To Do’

The Bengals promoted Pitcher to offensive coordinator last week.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow underwent surgery in November to repair a damaged ligament in his right wrist. He is currently recuperating from the procedure.

Burrow’s season was ended by the procedure. The Bengals’ offense and how it might alter once the 27-year-old returns to the field have been the subject of much conjecture due to the injury.

Will they further submerge the center? Will their offensive be more balanced and run the ball more frequently than it did when Jake Browning was the quarterback?

“There’s been a lot made of what did the offense look like over the final part of the season, and I really just think that’s a product of us looking at it on a week to week basis, who do we have available to us, who are we playing and what do we need to do to win, and that’s something we’ll always do,” Dan Pitcher, the Bengals offensive coordinator, said. “At the end of the year, we’ll review some of the things that we did well, We’ll do a terrific job this offseason of determining who we need to be going ahead and then having the flexibility to modify if necessary because Joe Burrow can surely do anything you ask of him.”

The Bengals anticipate having one of the league’s top offensive units in 2019. They are also aware that by May, the roster may have changed significantly. With the intention of emerging as a competitor once more, they’ll base their strategy on what they can keep and what they can add.
