Nobody was a fan of the College Football Playoff committee this past season. That was even the case with Georgia football, who ended up finishing No. 2 in the committee’s final rankings this past season.
But SEC fans had the most issues with the committee last season by far because they were not valuing how difficult it is to win in the SEC as the conference has the most difficult schedules every single season in all of college football.
The greatest example of the CFP committee not valuing the SEC’s strength of schedule is when Kirby Smart and Georgia lost on the road to a top 15 Ole Miss team and somehow dropped 9 spots in their rankings. On the flip side, Ohio State lost at home to a five loss team and only dropped a couple spots.
Who knows why the committee doesn’t value strength of schedule, but the latest data showing projected strength of schedules for the 2025 season explains why the committee needs to respect the difficult SEC schedules a lot more.
