Fulham are now interested in signing Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi before this week’s transfer deadline.

Marco Silva’s side came into a cash windfall following the £46m sale of Serbian forward Aleksander Mitrovic to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.

Indeed, looking to strengthen their attack, the Cottagers want to sign the ‘special’ Iwobi, according to the Daily Mail.

The Nigerian international is currently out injured for the Blues after limping off during Everton’s 4-0 defeat at Villa Park.

The 27-year-old was absent for last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Wolves at Goodison Park, Everton’s third loss on the spin.

Iwobi to Fulham unlikely unless generous offer is made quick

Indeed, Sean Dyche’s side are yet to pick up a point, with Everton losing the three opening games to a season without scoring a goal for the first time in the club’s history.

It has been a dreadful start to the campaign, though the imminent arrival of Portuguese striker Beto from Serie A side Udinese will offer some hope that the goal drought will soon come to an end.

Alex Iwobi is one of the Toffees’ most creative players and though he can be frustrating at times, he remains a key figure in this Everton side.

sean Dyche has brought winger Jack Harrison in on loan from Championship club Leeds United, and once he is fit his arrival could allow Iwobi to move back inside to his favoured position.

The former Arsenal man has spent much of his time at Goodison Park on the wing, but arguably played his best football when in a central role under Frank Lampard’s stewardship.

Harrison’s arrival on Merseyside could tempt Dyche to play Iwobi centrally once more, and the promise of a return to his favoured position could be what the Nigerian international needs at Everton.

However, if Marco Silva’s side offer anything close to the £46m fee they received for Mitrovic, Everton would have to accept the bid, provided there was enough time to recruit a replacement.
