Borussia Dortmund hoping for Julien Duranville, Gio Reyna returns after the international break

After the international break, Borussia Dortmund hopes to welcome Julien Duranville and Gio Reyna back into the squad.

Gio Reyna has been out since June after injuring himself while playing for the United States in the Concacaf Nations League versus Canada. The offensive midfielder was first considered to have sustained a calf injury, but it has subsequently been claimed that he shattered his leg.

The extent of Reyna’s injury was not disclosed by Borussia Dortmund, but he was forced to miss the entire preseason. The 20-year-old is finally back in team training and working hard to get back into the game. The expectation is that Reyna will be able to rejoin the BVB squad for their Bundesliga match against SC Freiburg following the international break.

Julien Duranville is also nearing his return and should be available for the encounter against Freiburg. The highly valued Belgian winger suffered a thigh injury in July during Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season friendly against San Diego Loyal and was forced to miss the bulk of pre-season. He is now totally fit and will attempt to relaunch his BVB career.

Duranville joined Borussia Dortmund in January from Anderlecht and made his debut on the final day of the previous season. Just minutes before being pulled off due to injury, the 17-year-old scored his first goal in BVB colors against San Diego Loyal.

Reyna and Duranville’s return to the squad would undoubtedly improve Borussia Dortmund’s attacking options. Edin Terzic’s team has only scored four goals in their first three Bundesliga games.
