Nottingham Forest must give 27-year-old a new contract, he’s out of contract next summer
Nottingham Forest has had another busy summer, adding 13 new players ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
The big-money signings of Anthony Elanga and Ibrahim Sangare undoubtedly drew attention, but one of the less expensive additions has already proven to be a wise move.
Ola Aina joined the Reds on a free transfer, and despite playing out of position at left-back, the 27-year-old has made an immediate impact at the City Ground.
Aina has put in several outstanding performances, and it’s fascinating to see where he can go as a Forest player; but, his present contract must be extended.
Forest must extend Aina’s contract
Upon his arrival at the club this summer, Aina only signed a one-year deal
Although it is understandable the club offered the former Chelsea man a contract of this length, a new deal should be offered to extend his stay on Trentside.
Should January arrive with no new contract for the 27-year-old yet to sign a new deal, he would be free to speak to overseas sides about a potential move.
He’s been in superb form for Steve Cooper’s side, even receiving two call-ups for the Nigerian national side.
A great start for Aina
Aina appears to be the type of player who will strive relentlessly to stay in the Forest team.
As a result, he’s already developing into a really likeable figure and a player who has swiftly won over the fans.
Despite just started five games for the Reds, he is certainly deserving of a new contract.
The 27-year-old is still in his early stages, but the signals are all favorable, and a new deal would be a nice reward for his strong start.
