The Czech billionaire, Daniel Křetínský completes the purchase of a 27% stake in West Ham - Czech Daily

The £15 million star claim shows that one man controls West Ham United, and it is not David Moyes.

Instead of Daniel Kret nsky David Moyes,y initiated a new deal for West Ham United player Tomas Soucek.

Tomas Soucek’s current contract was slated to expire in the summer of 2024, but West Ham had the option to extend it for another year if Daniel Kretinsky stepped in.

The 28-year-old is clearly an important player for Hammers manager David Moyes.

However, it appears that a fresh contract for large Tomas was not begun by the Scot…

The £15 million star claim shows that one man controls West Ham, and it is not David Moyes.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Hammers co-owner Daniel Kretinsky forced through a new deal being handed to his countryman Soucek.

Now, if that is indeed true, it proves that Moyes does not have the final say on new contracts being handed out to certain players.

Soucek almost signed for Brighton but now the son of a marathon runner can give West Ham some backbone - The Athletic

That’s certainly not ideal for the Scot is it?

The 60-year-old brought Soucek to West Ham for about £15 million from Slavia Prague in the summer of 2020 (Daily Mail), after he spent a successful four month loan spell at the London Stadium.

He was an instant hit at the London Stadium and was instrumental in the Hammers’ first 18 months with us.

However, the Czech midfielder has declined in the last two years, owing to Moyes’ decision to adjust his role in order to enable Declan Rice become a more box-to-box player.

As we all know, that experiment backfired, and maybe now that Rice has departed to join Arsenal, we’ll start to see the best of Soucek again.

If he does not improve this season, Kretinsky’s insistence on a new contract for him may produce friction between the co-owner and West Ham manager David Moyes. Let us hope that does not happen.
