Gut wrenching’: Ryan Reynolds sends a heartfelt message to Wrexham captain Ben Tozer after he announced the sudden death of his father following a brain operation on Sunday night

After Wrexham star Ben Tozer’s father died unexpectedly on Monday night, Ryan Reynolds expressed his solidarity on social media.

Ryan Reynolds gave a great message of support to Wrexham star Ben Tozer on Tuesday after the midfielder revealed his father died of leukaemia.

‘Gut wrenching,’ wrote the Wrexham co-owner in response to Tozer’s emotive remark on Twitter. ‘My heartfelt condolences to the Tozer family.’

Tozer shared on social media that his father was diagnosed with leukemia on Saturday and will need a brain operation the next day.

According to Tozer, the surgery “went very well,” but his father died on Monday evening.

‘On Saturday, I was told my Dad had leukaemia, but it’s manageable,’ said the 33-year-old defender.

He needed a brain operation on Sunday night, which went well, but then the unimaginable happened last night.

‘Unfortunately, all of this occurred because he waited too long. He was unknowingly concealing the fact that he was in excruciating pain.

“Go get checked,” we advised on a frequent basis. He was simply terrified of what it could be.

‘Thank you very much, Dad. Our final words together will be with me for the rest of my life. I adore you. I hope we all did you proud.’

The club expressed their condolences on social media in response to his emotive post, tweeting: ‘So sad to hear this. Our hearts go out to you and your family.’

Tozer helped Wrexham win promotion from the National League last season, as the Welsh club ended their 15-year stint in non-league football.

Reynolds and fellow Hollywood co-owner Rob McElhenney have been instrumental in Wrexham’s return to the football league, greatly increasing the club’s transfer budget and forging close bonds with fans and the local community.

Wrexham are among the favorites to win promotion from League Two next season, thanks to their investment and track record of attracting high-profile players such as former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster.

Tozer played an important role in Wrexham’s promotion push last season, appearing in 51 games across all competitions and scoring four goals from defense.
