Revealed Leeds United confirm injured star to miss nine games at least

Leeds United have revealed that right-back Djed Spence will be out for eight weeks after suffering a knee injury last week.

The international break usually results in an increase in injuries for a number of teams, as well as concern that players would get injured while representing their nations.

Following a fortnight off, Daniel Farke had mainly encouraging news, buoyed by having Dan James off the bench, as he set up two goals in the 3-0 win at Millwall on Sunday.

What’s going on with Djed Spence these days?
Djed Spence was missing from the matchday squad after Farke revealed in his pre-match press conference that he had suffered a knee ligament damage in training.

Following the game, Farke relayed the “sad news” of Spence’s injury, which the club has now stated will keep him out for eight weeks (via Beren Cross):

Spence is anticipated to make a comeback right before the November international break, with a possible return against Plymouth Argyle on November 11.

Spence’s absence will prevent him from playing in the following games: Hull City (A), Watford (H), Southampton (A), QPR (H), Bristol City (H), Norwich City (A), Stoke City (A), Huddersfield Town (H), and Leicester City (A).

Leeds and Spence will have been raring to go before this setback, as they are nine games out.

As much as Luke Ayling deserves credit for his effort against Millwall, the right-back position is open when Spence returns.

He is one of the league’s best full-backs and might be a game changer for us by the time he returns.
