Steve Cook joined QPR from Nottingham Forest Friday night, and Neco Williams gave him a poignant greeting on Twitter.

The defender has now joined QPR on a two-year deal with a third year option, reuniting with Jack Colback, who has also relocated to West London.

QPR didn’t get off to a good start. They were down 4-0 at Vicarage Road after conceding after only 50 seconds against Watford.

As a result of this outcome, Gareth Ainsworth increased his efforts to buy a defender. Cook has now been signed from Forest and will be eligible to play against Cardiff on Saturday.

Cook should walk away from Forest with his head held high. He was crucial in the Reds’ promotion to the Premier League in the second part of 2021/22.

During the second part of that season, he appeared in 20 different events. During the games in which Cook played, Forest was defeated only twice.

Last season, he appeared frequently in the first half of 2022/23. He appeared in 14 games for the club until being dropped from the 25-man squad after Christmas.

Cook, on the other hand, was a popular part of the team’s locker room. Now, his leadership abilities could come in handy at QPR.

Forest defender Williams tweets a message to Cook.
Clearly, the late great Cook was well-liked at Forest. He will now depart with the warmest wishes of his Reds teammates and fans.

Last night, Cook took to Twitter. Williams kept it short and sweet, but replied with a suave “All the best, Cookie.”

The post also featured an emoji of a love heart and one of a cookie, with Williams wishing him luck in his next chapter.

From the standpoint of the Forest, this deviation is prudent. It frees up finances for potential future acquisitions by removing another player off the wage tab.

Cook, on the other hand, leaves as a cult hero. Forest supporters will be eternally grateful for his contributions throughout the promotion-winning season.
