Latest Nottingham Forest from NottinghamshireLive as Brennan Johnson sends the Reds faithful a message after sealing Spurs transfer

After completing a deadline-day move to Tottenham, Brennan Johnson issued an emotional tribute to Nottingham Forest fans.

The 22-year-old signed a six-year contract with the north London club, which is thought to be valued around £47.5 million. Johnson joined Nottingham Forest when he was eight years old and went on to make over 100 appearances for the club.

As his 14-year stay at the City Ground draws to an end, the winger posted a statement on Instagram. “Words cannot express how grateful I am to this football club and all of you fans,” he added.

“I’ve fulfilled a lifelong ambition of mine by playing for my hometown club and representing Nottingham Forest.” I’ve made memories that will last a lifetime, notably that iconic day at Wembley when I returned the club to its rightful place.

“I’ll never forget hearing that final whistle blow after the play-off final, and of course, the celebrations with you at Market Square.” The celebrations following the Arsenal game, knowing we had kept this historic club in the Premier League for another season, were also memorable.

“I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone associated with Nottingham Forest, from the academy to the first team.” From the staff to the players, and, of course, the great fans who have stood by me through good and bad times. “I’m always a Red.”

Reds manager Steve Cooper also paid Johnson a classy tribute. “Whilst we’ll obviously miss Brennan and the memories he’s given so many of us when he lit up the City Ground on the right wing, we’re extremely proud of him and pleased that he’s got this move as he enters the next stage of his career,” he said.

“Everyone knows how good he is on the field, but many people don’t see the kind, humble, and genuine young man he is off the field.” He was always learning, always humble, and had a wonderful personality while interacting with his teammates and staff.

“All credit must go to his family, particularly his mother and father.”
