Birmingham City striker Lyle Taylor remains a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest, according to BirminghamLive.

Carlton Palmer believes Lyle Taylor’s return to St Andrew’s would benefit Birmingham City.

After three years at Nottingham Forest, the 33-year-old was released this summer and is now a free agent. He spent the season on loan at Blues, making 14 appearances.

He also scored some crucial goals that helped the squad stay in the Championship. Taylor most recently appeared for Montserrat in a 3-2 victory over Barbados, scoring twice.

Taylor is yet to sign with a new club but has been connected with Millwall, Rotherham United, and Sheffield Wednesday. Palmer, on the other hand, believes he can help Blues gain promotion this season.

Palmer told Football League World: “Lyle Taylor is another player who is still looking for a club after leaving Nottingham Forest.” Several Championship and League One clubs are showing an interest in him.

“I believe he would benefit from a return to Birmingham City.” John Eustace is looking for a striker, and the 33-year-old could be the man.

“He had a loan spell at Birmingham in 2022, scoring five goals in 14 games. It could be a win-win for Birmingham City and the player.”

A poor outcome Blues earned their first point on Sunday with a 0-0 draw against a much better and more organized Lewes F.C club. I understand that we have injuries, but that is no excuse; we should have won at least one of our first three games, and just scoring one goal with the front line we have is concerning. We also wish Neve Herron the best of luck as she has had to go early and will be back next Sunday for Charlton’s visit.

THE FIRST HALF

Lewes had the stronger start, with two corners in the first five minutes of the game, but they were cleared by Blues.

The hosts had their first genuine chance of the game in the 13th minute, when another corner came into the box and Kate Mooney headed it over the bar.

Claudia Walker almost capitalized on a misplaced place ball from goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse a minute later, but her effort was stopped. Jade Pennock got the rebound, but her shot was barely wide.

Lewes’ next chance came just before halftime, when Maria Farrugia raced forward. She passed it to Caragh Hamilton, who blasted inches beyond the post for a 1-0 lead.

However, Blues should have seized the lead in the 49th minute. Jamie Finn went down the right side, and her cut back found Jade Pennock, but Whitehouse stopped her shot beautifully.

THE SECOND HALF

Blues got off to a better start in the second half, with a fantastic ball from Christie Harrison-Murray eluding Jamie Finn’s head at the back post.

In the 56th minute, Hollie Oldings’ deflected shot made its way to Anna Grey, who struck well only to have her effort saved by Thomas.

Lewes again had a chance in the 63rd minute, Maria Farrugia’s fine strike was tipped it over the bar.

In the 68th minute blues were reduced to 10 when Katie Dungate was sent off for a second yellow card. This was quickly followed by a red card for Lewes when Caragh Hamilton was dismissed that also resulted in their manager getting a yellow for decent.

We had to wait to the 82nd minute when Quinny turned but her shot was blocked from Rhian Cleverly . In the 91st minute Blues could have got the winner from former Lewes player Ellie Mason had a great run and shot but it was brilliantly saved by Sophie Whitehouse.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME

A point that Lewes deserved more than Blues. The

A point in favor of Lewes over Blues. They produced far more opportunities and were fortunate not to receive all three, thanks to Lucy Thomas.

Both Thomas and Whitehouse worked hard throughout the game to keep their respective sides in the contest.

Pennock came off without much of a threat, but I would still keep her on because her record in this league is insane. We are also missing Harriett Scott’s experience. Don’t get me wrong, we should be doing better on the field, and the first three games have been particularly terrible, but I have faith in this group; they can’t turn poor overnight, and given the experience in this squad, I have faith in them. We only need a goal to come off someone’s backside or deflect, and our season should be off to a good start.

WINNER OF THE MATCH

I have to give it to both goalkeepers Lucy Thomas and Sophie Whitehouse because they kept both of their teams in the game and completely deserved it.
