Latest Aston Villa transfer news as details of interest in Federico Chiesa of Juventus emerges after the summer window

According to reports, Aston Villa were willing to break their transfer record for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

Villa were linked with a summer move for the 25-year-old, but no deal materialized, and the Italian remained at Juventus.

But it wasn’t for a lack of trying, as Romeo Agresti of Goal has provided an update on Villa’s attempts to sign Chiesa.

There was “no shortage of interest” from England, according to reports, and Villa intended to “put around €70m in the pot” to recruit Chiesa from Juventus. Despite their efforts, no discussions ever “came to fruition.”
