I Told Him If He Wants To Be Complete – Club Boss On Advice To Star On Loan From Aston Villa

In the second half of the season, the 19-year-old defensive midfielder joined Bristol Rovers on loan and impressed Barton with his performances.

Bristol Rovers were desperate to persuade Aston Villa to allow Bogarde rejoin them on loan this summer, and they were successful after Unai Emery accepted his move.

Bogarde was instrumental in the Gas’ 4-1 EFL Trophy win over Cheltenham Town on Tuesday, and Barton believes the Aston Villa loanee demonstrated his class with his efforts.

Barton also claimed that he advised the young midfielder to pick and choose his moments in order to develop into a complete midfielder.

“He’s a little behind the group because he came in late, but I told him that if you want to be a complete midfielder, you have to pick and choose moments,” Barton said on Bristol Rovers TV.

“I thought he was excellent in the fore but also had some really nice surges, drives, and runs that showed the              class Lamy has.”

Bogarde will be motivated to do well for Bristol Rovers this season in order to be included in Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce’s plans when he returns at the end of the season.
