According to a Euro football specialist, West Ham had a deal agreed to sign a striker who went elsewhere for £30 million, Lucas Paqueta.

During the summer transfer window, West Ham were linked with a slew of strikers from across the world.

To name a few, Hammers targets are Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri, PSG’s Hugo Ekitike, Brazilian Yuri Alberto, and Feyenoord’s Mexican attacker Santiago Gimenez.

In the end, deadline day passed without the Hammers adding a striker to their four excellent window signings.

However, it appears that another target West Ham were widely associated with last month would have signed under different circumstances.

And he claims West Ham had a deal in place for French attacker Elye Wahi until Paqueta’s move to Manchester City fell through due to betting charges.

According to a Euro football specialist, West Ham agreed to sign a striker for Paqueta stayed at West Ham, while Wahi was sold to Lens for £30 million.

Brassell made the assertion while reviewing transfer window business on Sky Sports News.

“West Ham would have signed the striker Elye Wahi,” Brassell added.

As previously reported, a French journalist alleged tonight that West Ham attempted a last-ditch effort to acquire another striker but were unable to reach an agreement.

It remains to be seen whether West Ham will live to regret not signing a striker.

The club is preparing for another 50-game season on land and sea, with just Michail Antonio and Danny and young forward Divin Mubama as bonafide striker options.
