Newcastle United transfer rumours – Magpies ‘plot’ fresh Joachim Anderson approach after ‘late’ bid

A round-up of the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours

A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Tuesday, October 3.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are planning a January approach for Joachim Anderson after a late summer deal was rejected by Crystal Palace. The Magpies are thought to be interested in adding to their defensive options, and Anderson has impressed since joining the Eagles.

According to the source, Eddie Howe’s team had a hefty bid rejected by their Premier League opponents near the end of the last summer window, but they are still interested in his services. The Magpies are fighting on four fronts this season, and Sven Botman’s absence has left them short on quality defenders.

Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett came into the team for the Carabao Cup match against Manchester City and both showed they still have lot to contribute, but the Magpies are seeking to progress with both players approaching the end of their careers.

Anderson was linked with a £40 million move to Newcastle in the summer, and according to sources, his old club Lyon has a sell-on provision in his current contract.

Newcastle pipped Dutch club to Yankuba Minteh signing

Arne Slot, the manager of Feyenoord, alleges that the club attempted to recruit Odense Boldklub midfielder Yankuba Minteh, but Newcastle United beat them to it. Slot said Algemeen Dagblad, which was then carried by FR12.nl, “Our scouts were also impressed by his year at Odense.”

“At one point, Dennis te Kloese came to the technical staff (to recommend him). Minteh went to Newcastle United and the English club were looking for a club to loan him to. That’s how he came to us.

”He recently shot Gambia to a ticket for the Africa Cup next winter. Then we have lost him, just like Zerrouki by the way,” the Feyenoord manager added.

“Newcastle haven’t made any requirements regarding minimum playing time or anything like that. I haven’t seen any people from Saudi Arabia here with requests at all.”
