THE LATEST SPORT NEWS
The NCAA Transfer Portal opened last month, and it will stay that way until Jan. 18.
As of Wednesday, Jan. 11, 11 scholarship players from the South Carolina football team have jumped into the portal since it opened on Dec. 5. Most have already announced their next stop, leaving one scholarship Gamecock up for grabs.
Even though there is a dead period currently in place, that will change by the weekend. To keep up with who’s elected to leave the South Carolina football program, we’ve listed each player below, with all the latest on where they are expected to land.
— Oregon is rumored to be a landing spot for Burch, who was third on the team with 60 tackles in 2022. He also had 7.5 tackles for loss (third) and 3.5 sacks (second).
— Florida State and Florida hosted Edmond for visits. LSU was said to be in the mix. He led South Carolina with 9.0 tackles for loss in 2022.
— Rucker entered his name into the portal, but his football career might actually be finished. Reports have Rucker returning to Arkansas State, but he has not made an announcement about his future.
— Shortly after Lloyd entered the portal, TheBigSpur reported four schools of interest for Lloyd: Georgia, Michigan State, Southern Cal and Tennessee. He led the team with 573 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground in 2022.
Bell rushed for 261 yards and three touchdowns in 2022. He also caught 25 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. He was second on the team in rushing yards.
Stogner caught 20 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown during his only season at South Carolina.
— Roderick had a handful of offers posted to his Twitter account, but James Madison is currently the only one that is listed. However, he tweeted last Friday that his location was Lynchburg, Va., which is home to Liberty.
