Report: Steelers to sign former 49ers…

Tezino entered the NFL in 2020 as an undrafted free agent out of San Diego State. His final year in college, he recorded 96 total tackles, three sacks, and one interception.

Tezino’s draft profile from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein reads: “Athletic limitations and a lack of pursuit speed could short-circuit his chances as a draft prospect, but he plays the game with a natural level of aggression and toughness that will appeal to a coaching staff. Tezino’s instincts and poise show up inside the box and it’s rare to see him play with wasted motion and false steps when flowing downhill. While the play demeanor and production are both good, he’s only an early down linebacker who lacks range and consistency as an open-field tackler.”

Tezino signed with the New England Patriots following the draft. He’s since spent time with the Carolina Panthers, the UFL’s Birmingham Stallions, the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers, and the San Francisco 49ers. With the Maulers in 2023, Tezino finished second in the USFL with 94 tackles, adding two interceptions.

The 6’0, 235-pound defender has yet to appear in a regular season NFL game.

With the Steelers’ linebacker corps banged up following the team’s preseason loss the Buffalo Bills, Tezino could provide some depth

throughout the rest of the summer.
