Dani Pedrosa warns: ‘It’s a clear advantage for Jorge Martín, but many things can happen

Jorge Martín is in a highly favorable position to become MotoGP world champion, holding a 24-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) as they enter the final round of the season.

Scoring just two more points than the Italian would secure the title for the Spaniard in the Sprint race on Saturday. However, the fight is still open, with 37 points on the line in the Solidarity GP of Barcelona.

Dani Pedrosa alerta: ‘É uma vantagem claramente favorável ao Jorge Martín, mas podem acontecer muitas coisas’

Dani Pedrosa emphasized this in an interview with AS, stating: ‘I think in a World Championship, anything can happen. In the sense that 24 points is a clear advantage for Martín, but we’ve seen it time and again – anything can happen in Grands Prix. Nothing is written yet, and everything is still up in the air’.

The Red Bull KTM test rider believes Martín can focus on managing his lead: ‘Clearly, Martín has the advantage and can manage it very well, especially given that these two riders are currently way ahead of the others. This means that if Martín eases back a little to secure the title, he’s still likely to finish high in the standings. It’s not as if he’d typically finish eighth or ninth; he still ends up on the podium, and that puts him in a very good position’.

Nevertheless, Pedrosa reiterated that, despite Martín’s solid management, nothing is decided yet: ‘Of course, many things could happen – weather could be a factor, some technical error, bad luck… I don’t know, anything can happen. But basically, I think Jorge has things very well in hand. And he’s managed this advantage throughout the championship, so why would he fail now?’.
