Elite college football player’s honest verdict on Gators smears Billy Napier’s name further amid Florida hot seat rumors…
Billy Napier, the Florida Gators’ head coach who continues to be on the hot seat despite having a 4-3 winning record this season, is once again on the firing line.
Travis Hunter, the elite two-way star of the Colorado Buffaloes, ranked the Gators over Georgia, the top dog in SEC, in one department: Having better athletes but his praise came with a scorching pan.
“Talent-wise, I would say Florida,” Hunter said in a Q&A session without taking a beat when asked to pick the better football team talent-wise between Florida and Georgia.
“You know you got different types of players come out of Florida: fast, quick, hands, crazy.”
However, if Hunter had to pick a better organization out of the two, it would be Georgia.
“But as an organization, Georgia is more put together, it’s more organized. It got the best play-style of football.”
Based on this belief came Hunter’s unfiltered opinion on the Gators’ poor “organization” of Billy Napier’s team; elaborating how, despite having some really good talent, Georgia is more likely to produce better players.
“Florida definitely got athletes,” Hunter prefaced before saying, “But you know there’s a lot of players who don’t come out of Florida because the environment. It’s kind of hard too. Like you can’t get that type of football playing. If a Florida player, like me for instance, I went from Florida to Georgia, I would play great because it is organized better. So I was able to get the eyes. I was able to run football better.”
“You know you put an athlete from Florida to Georgia, it’s gonna be crazy. But if you put an athlete from Georgia to Florida, it’s not gonna be the same,” Hunter said, brutally bringing Napier and Co.’s fatal flaw to the limelight yet again.
Only a miracle, or Gators freshman DJ Lagway, can save Billy Napier’s Florida job
Billy Napier has been on the hot seat and it’s about time Florida fires him. His only way out is a miraculous turnaround, delivering the fans a good record despite minimal belief he could.
For this, Napier will be counting on freshman QB DJ Lagway, who, as Hunter mentioned, is a one-of-a-kind talent in Florida.
715 yards passing, including 10 completions of 40 yards or longer in just two starts. If Lagway continues putting up these numbers, he will be the reason Napier’s job is saved.
Although the odds are severely stacked against them when they face Georgia, the freshman QB will still have the chance to the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” into a welcome-back celebration for Napier.
