DB commit to Georgia Bulldogs over Alabama and Auburn….

Georgia enters the race for 2026 Florida DB commit Jaelen Waters…

The Georgia Bulldogs certainly aren’t shy about courting commits from elsewhere in the recruiting process, and on Friday morning, they shot their shot once again, extending an offer to 2026 defensive back Jaelen Waters.

A four-star defender by way of Seffner, Florida’s Armwood High School (home of 2025 Georgia wide receiver commit Tyler Williams), Waters has been committed to the Florida Gators since mid-June of this year. He currently ranks as the nation’s No. 149 overall prospect in the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings and is the No. 13 cornerback in the cycle per the same metric.

“I was at Florida for the Miami game and I will be back for another game this season,” Waters told On3. “The situation that is going on right now at Florida will not distract my love for them. Florida is a school I have the most respect for and my commitment is to the school as well as the coaches.”

Still, the Gators will need to be on their toes with stiff competition coming from all angles, and the Dawgs now in the race for the 6-foot-2, 180 pound junior.

Georgia off to a strong start in the 2026 defensive backfield
While Jaelen Waters is the latest prospect to see the Bulldogs offer, he is certainly not the first, as Georgia has cast a wide net early on. That’s already resulted in some early success, as well.

Currently, the Bulldogs have two defensive back commits in the 2026 cycle, with fellow four-stars Jontavius Wyman and Dominick Kelly already having pledged their services.

The two defenders join five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, one of the nation’s top players regardless of position, in what is currently ranked as the No. 6 overall class in the 2026 cycle.

The Bulldogs are heavily courting several other top names, as well, such as five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, four-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson, and wide receiver Aaron Gregory, among others.
