Who is coming back from injury to help…

it’s always about improvement. I mean, we’re better never rests, like we’re trying to get better all the time. So I’ve never had a bye week that I’ve ever had in all my years coaching that it wasn’t about improvement,” Smart said. “It’s about detailing that improvement and how are you going to attack it? Are you going to do the same thing you’ve done every year? Well, you may not have the same team. You may not have the same special teams. You may have different needs from one year to the next, and we kind of cater our off week to what we need.

“And that’s not all based on Kentucky, that’s based on Tennessee Tech, that’s based on Clemson, that’s based on injuries, it’s based on improvement. We change the schedules each bye week to fit, to suit what we need.”

Georgia has been working to get several injured players back on the field just like most teams this time of year. Here’s what we know about several banged-up Bulldogs as the team works through their first bye week of the season.

Please note that these injury indications are what we would give them as of Friday, meaning there would likely be changes by the time the Bulldogs take the field in Tuscaloosa eight days from now

Carson Beck had an awkward fall late in the fourth quarter of last Saturday’s game against Kentucky. That said, Smart told reporters on Tuesday that Beck was “fine” and had practiced both days so far that week.

Beck was asked about how he was feeling after the 13-12 victory and said, “Thankfully we have a bye week, so we’ll see,” Beck said. “I’ll be fine, but no, we’ll see.”

Beck has manned the Georgia offense in all three games this season and has completed 68.3% of his attempts for 680 yards with 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. His start against Kentucky wasn’t the prettiest, as he was 15-of-24 for 160 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.

Beck’s Heisman Trophy hopes took a hit with his pedestrian performance at Kentucky. He’ll need a big game at Alabama to not only resurrect those chances but, more importantly, to help Georgia contend for a win.
