Deion Sanders Provides Critical Update About Shilo Sanders Injury

The Week 2 loss by the Colorado Buffaloes against the Nebraska Cornhuskers not only saw Deion Sanders’ team get blown out 28-10, but it also saw them lose one of their best players.

The son of Deion Sanders and starting safety, Shilo Sanders, left the game in the first quarter after attempting to tackle running back Dante Dowdell. The severity of the injury was unknown following the game, but Deion Sanders did say it was a forearm injury when talking to NBC at halftime.

According to Scott Procter of The Coloradoan, the head coach and father revealed on Tuesday that the team’s starting safety is expected to be out for two or three weeks.Deion Sanders shows his fatherly side: Sends touching message to his son Shilo after risky surgery | Marca

If he does miss three weeks, that will have him out for their matchup at Colorado State this weekend, against Baylor on September 21 and at UCF on September 28.

In a social media post on Monday, Deion Sanders uploaded pictures after Shilo’s surgery to provide an update.

“God is Good,” Sanders wrote. “Can’t wait to see u back ready to go. Love ya son!”

For Colorado, this is a major loss for the defense. The sixth-year senior not only offers a ton of experience, but also led the team in tackles and forced fumbles in 2023. He also seemed well on his way to leading the team in tackles again this season, and is still fourth on the team in tackles despite missing about 3.5 quarters of action.

Aside from their star safety, Colorado will also be without running back Dallan Hayden, and they are hoping that defensive lineman Chidozie Nwankwo is able to play as well.

The Buffs will be traveling to Fort Collins on Saturday to take on Colorado State in the “Rocky Mountain Showdown,” which will air on CBS at 7:30 p.m. ET.
